A Tale of Yum

1948

Grandma Lotte opens Yum Yum Shop near the bridge on North Main Street in Wolfeboro, NH.

1977

Yum Yum Shop expands in a move across the street to the Gulf gas station with news coverage: "The building has undergone a face lift in keeping with our colonial town, and surely it does not resemble a gas station now!"

1993

Lotte's son Lou takes over the shop, and builds Yum Yum Shop's reputation as the area's preeminent bakery.

1990s

Yum Yum Shop expands again, adding a gift shop and 44 seat restaurant cafe.

2010

Illness forces Lou Kelly to retire, and his son Peter takes over the shop.

2016

Following Lou's passing, Yum Yum Shop announces that it will close following Memorial Day, and its 16 N Main Street location is listed for sale. Fans post loving epitaphs such as these:
"I have fond memories of the Yum Yum Shop when it was across the street. Tiny place. We would wait in line for fresh- from- the- oven White Mountain bread every time we came in to town from the island. One loaf to eat right away, another loaf to take home. My great aunt would treat us to a frosted gingerbread man once in a while. Loved the hermit bars too." "my dad and I used to take the boat over every sunday, at dawn, from Melvin village for donuts and pastries in the seventies. so sad!"

2017

Spencer and Ashley Samuelian purchase Yum Yum Shop, and announce it will reopen in Spring 2018 with Peter Kelly, Lotte's grandson, returning to take the helm.

2018

Yum Yum Shop ribbon cutting on July 2 attracts throngs of customers and the Yum Yum Shop is officially back in business, serving the greater Lakes Region with its favorite bakery items and ice cream.
